Flexible Futures: Transforming Our Classroom With Seating and Stories

Help me give my students a space to support learners in 5th grade by introducing flexible seating options and an organized library to foster independence, comfort, and a love for reading.

My Project

I’m moving grade levels! From 1st to 5th grade! To meet the developmental needs of a 5th grade classroom, I want to create a flexible space where students can choose how and where they work best. This includes alternative seating like wobble stools, floor cushions, and lap desks to keep them engaged and comfortable.

Alongside this, we’re organizing our classroom library with clear bins, leveled labels, and accessible shelving.

A well-organized library encourages student choice, builds independence, and helps all readers—from emergent to fluent—find books they love.
