I currently use metal stools in my classroom at my kidney table for small group instruction. My students spend a great amount of time daily receiving small group instruction. The use of stools can allow eight students to sit at the table with me. I have students who often feel the need to fidget and rocks on the stools that are not designed to be used as a tilt stool. I have placed screws in the stools to allow continuous use over the years.
Each of my students bring a unique energy to the classroom, and it is my job to nurture that energy by providing an environment that can adapt to their individual needs.
Understanding and addressing my students' various needs with flexible seating options promotes inclusivity and enhances their learning. The seating choices creates an environment where all my students can feel valued, comfortable, and ready to engage in their learning experience.
The use of seating options in my classroom makes learning engaging. The use of tilt stools will allow the students to move while receiving small group instruction. Movement can help increase their blood flow and alertness, which in turn enhances cognitive processing. For my students who often feel the need to fidget, the tilt stools will offer a way to channel that energy positively without disrupting others. Accommodating the varying needs of my students, enables them to be more comfortable, engaged, and successful in their learning journey.
