Flexible Furniture for Focused Fifth-Graders

Help me give my students a variety of flexible seating options when reading, working in groups or independently. Students are able to move around the classroom and utilize different areas other than their desks.

My Project

Flexible seating in a 5th-grade classroom offers several benefits that enhance both learning and engagement. By providing students with a variety of seating options, such as floor desks, floor pillows, or cushions, it encourages movement and helps accommodate different learning styles. This increased freedom allows students to choose the seating arrangement that makes them most comfortable and focused, which can improve concentration and productivity. The ottoman provides both seating and storage for the and cushions and the storage bins provide storage for the floor desks and pillows.

These options also promote collaboration, as flexible seating encourages students to move around the room when working independently or with a group.

The goal for this project is to foster a sense of autonomy and responsibility, helping students take ownership of their learning environment, leading to greater motivation and overall classroom success. My students are a very motivated group and are eager to create their own learning spaces to be more productive in the classroom.
