Students in my class all live within walking distance of school but despite their geographical similarities, they represent a myriad of backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, language and socioeconomics. At school, we focus on collaboration and find ways to work together to build a strong classroom and a stronger school community by capitalizing on the strengths that come from our diversity. We work hard every day to make our great school even better and more inclusive of our diversity.
My Project
Classrooms today are increasingly designed with students' needs in mind including the need for flexible furniture and alternate seating that gives students choices for where and how to work.
Basically, we want our classroom to feel like a Google workspace.
To that end, we are requesting folding tables which students can take out or fold away as needed and use to work with groups or on their own. We would also like to test run a few Hokki wobble chairs which allow for movement while seated. This movement has been shown to strengthen core muscles, improve breathing and contribute to greater engagement and attention.
