My students need these flexible seating options to enhance their learning. I would like to purchase a pair of chairs to add to my library. I have also included other options that my students will enjoy!
My first grade teaching adventure has taken me to Apple Valley, Minnesota. Our elementary school is a diverse K-5th grade school that not only celebrates diversity, but allows students to experience other cultures with hands-on experiences. We have large Hispanic, African American, and Asian populations. 44% of the students are receiving free or reduced lunch. This is my second year teaching first grade and I have learned that first graders LOVE to move, wiggle, and shake! My past experience at a movement based school has provided me with many ways to naturally integrate movement into my instruction.
With this project, I am hoping to support my students who need additional seating options in the classroom.
Each of my kiddos deserves a chance to learn in an environment that suits his or her needs. At the beginning of the year, I had my first project funded for my students at Westview Elementary School. They have LOVED using flexible seating in the classroom and I have seen the impact these options have had on their learning. I am looking to add more flexible seating options, which will allow me to reach more students at one time.
My Project
Thank you for checking out our project! We are a group of 20 first grade students that love to move. We incorporate movement, song, and dance into each day at Westview Elementary School; however, we want to incorporate even more flexible seating for our learners! I would like to purchase different seating to add to my classroom. Included in this order: two comfy cozy chairs for reading and independent work time, wobble stools for group work, yoga seats for the low to the ground table, lap desks for students that like to work on the floor, etc. I have also included a dollhouse because students have been requesting more toys for our "Fun Friday" block each week. It is one of the highlights for these 6 and 7 year olds and I believe that students can gain social skills through play. Thank you for helping us fund our project!
