My Students

My first grade classroom consists of twenty-one boys and girls. These students are curious, creative, and bright children. They attend a Project-Based Learning school, which incorporates real world experiences, while weaving in the first grade learning standards.

My students enjoy an active learning environment within our classroom.

A wide variety of levels are represented within our class. No matter the level, each child is eager to learn and appreciate alternative seating, collaborative projects, and differentiated learning options. This group of dynamic children are a joy to teach each day!

My Project

Our first grade classroom involves movement throughout the day while learning. Providing a flexible seating alternative, allows the student to personalize his/her learning environment. Students are able to choose a flexible seating option throughout the classroom while completing independent work and collaborating with peers.

Learning engagement increases when students are allowed to choose their learning environment.

The Hokki stools are easy for the children to maneuver throughout the classroom. They provide a wobble motion, which allows the children to move while working. The lap desks will provide an opportunity for students to sit on the floor while working on a Chromebook, learning center, or simply reading a book independently.

First grade students thrive on movement and change throughout the day to sustain attention and increase engagement. The requested supplies will benefit our first grade students.
