Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am excited to be starting my first year in Somerville Public Schools. This year I will have the privilege of working with a class of English Language Learners to help them grow in literacy and math. I can't wait to meet my diverse set of students!

Although I have not met my little kiddos yet, I am excited to get to know them over the next two years!

Our school has a looping model, so I will stay with these students from first to second grade. I am excited to see how much they grow within that span.

My Project

Help me create a welcoming, varied space for my students next year! As I begin my first year at a new school, I need some classroom supplies to help make the space a place where students can be productive and successful.

I love to switch up the learning formats we use in the classroom from whole group instruction to partner work to small group, and I need some pieces to make this possible.

As my new room has no whiteboards, the easels will allow me to have a space during both whole group and small group to use visuals and engage my students.

My students were really successful with our chill zone last year, and I want to recreate that for my new students. The been bag and kinetic sand will give students a space to calm down when they're having a hard time regulating their emotions. Some students need support more often, so I am also hoping on getting cushions to help those students that have a hard time sitting still during instruction.
