I teach in a kindergarten class at Alderman Road Elementary School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Each day the students come in my classroom excited and ready to learn. We try and build solid relationships with teachers and students to help support their learning environment.
Our students come from a variety of different backgrounds but each and every one of them are enthusiastic about learning and building their educational skills!
The majority of our students do not have the resources at home to get them fully motivated about school and their education. When they come to school they think of our classroom as their safe place to learn and become who they strive to be.
My students have so much energy and enjoy being able to move around the room to read their own books. Any resources that are provided to these students will help with their confidence and their motivation to learn and become better students and friends.
My Project
Replacing chairs with stability balls to use for flexible seating in my classroom will benefit each child by allowing them to have a comfortable working space. This in turn, will help students be more successful in their education.
Studies show that children who use stability balls are able to focus more, write words more clearly, and stay active.
Keeping a child's full attention for a period of time can be a difficult task. Children, at this young age have trouble sitting still, so replacing our chairs with stability balls will assist them to get their "wiggles" out in a positive way, while still being able to focus and reach their full potential.
Not only will these ball chairs assist with their success in education, but they also improve posture! :)
