My students need sentence strips and flexible seating like Yuck-E- Balls, floor seats and chair balls, as well as light filters to accommodate for sensory issues in the room.
Each of my students come to me with a unique set of needs and abilities. Together we work to help them reach their highest level of success. We celebrate little milestones and as a class we encourage each other to meet our goals.
I love how diverse my students are and how kind they are to one another.
Kindness and respect are key components in our learning environment. I appreciate and acknowledge the little, random acts of kindness that they display towards myself and each other.
My Project
Creating a comfortable environment is key in teaching students with special needs. By supporting my project you will be helping to make my classroom one that my students look forward to coming to each day.
My project supports the theory that flexible seating fosters individual growth.
I have included enough Yuck-E-Balls, floor seating and exercise balls to give each student a variety of alternatives to a traditional chair.
My project also includes blue light filters, which decrease glare and make the classroom more supportive for students with visual sensory processing issues. Also, sentence strips allow more space for visual learners to find the tools they need to succeed.
