Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a brand new teacher and this will be my first year in the classroom! I have had the privilege of working with the fourth grade students in my school and I am very excited to have them in my fifth grade class next year.

When my students enter my classroom, I want them to feel welcomed and supported in their learning environment.

I will encourage them to explore and stretch their thinking beyond what they believe they can do. I will push them to be their best and will support them so they can continue being the positive light in our community.

I am excited to meet my new students and the experience I have had with them so far, shows me that these students are ready to learn. They appreciate their teachers and their hard work, and I will work diligently to continue the positive educational path they are on.

My Project

I chose to request some flexible seating options for my classroom to give the students an opportunity to collaborate and work around the room, not just in their desks. I also chose some reusable ways that students can work while keeping the use of paper down.

Flex-Space Giant Comfy pillows, Flex-Space Comfy Floor Seats and Reusable Write and Wipe plastic pockets help me to meet those goals for my classroom.

The students will be able to find places they will feel comfortable working at, while using the reusable materials to keep them conscious of the need to cut down our paper use.

Flexible seating is becoming more popular in the classroom as we begin to understand that students enjoy having some freedom when working in the classroom. Reading is another area that flexible seating is important since it allows the student to be comfortable while they enjoy a good book. The goal is to create students who enjoy reading and learning, so finding little ways to help them meet that goal is something that I find important.
