See what Mrs. Rouse is requestingMy students need tables instead of desks. The curriculum calls for a lot of group work and projects. Having tables would help them work more efficiently!

My third grade students are full of life, eager to please, funny, trusting, intelligent children, that love to learn. They come to school knowing that they have a job to do. That job is to learn. They are eager to absorb whatever information and knowledge you can offer them. They don't allow any of their household circumstances to interfere with their learning. Despite the fact that 86 percent of the school's population, falls into the socioeconomic qualifications of free or reduced-price school lunch. These particular individuals realize that their way out is an education that they are joyfully willing to receive.
I call them "College Bound"!
Their individual reading groups are the names of colleges. I have never experienced a group of students who never want to stop reading books. They have captured the joy of reading. They have such a love for reading, it's incredible. Their desire for knowledge at times is unbelievable!
My students will use the tables to work together and collaborate on their specific projects during this semester. This is the first year I've tried flexible seating and my students really love it. As this year has gone by I realize that when I tell them to go to their best working spot it is never the desks. If I didn't make them come and sit in the lecture hall, which is the ten desk they would never sit there. After observing the students behaviors, they love to sit at tables and particularly, my table! Having these tables would create a better working environment for my students.
These tables would help my students work more effectively.
I have one rolling table that was given to me and my table that I let my students use. Every time I give group work they all want to use my table or the rolling table. Having the two tables will provide the students with choice! Also, one particular table has the capability to write on it. This is a great tool for creative thinking and brainstorming as they communicate with each other and plan their projects together. The students don't particularly care for the desk so when I send them to work in groups they don't come together like they are supposed to. I have to tell them where to sit. If they had the tables I wouldn't have to force them they would gladly sit at the tables since I can't get them to move off my table. Besides watching them create and plan together at their very own tables, I'll be able to use my table again!
