My Project
My students are first graders who love to learn and do work. I love how independent and unique each one of my students is, and I praise their different learning abilities. All of the students in my special education classroom learn in different ways and have different needs. That is why I encourage the use of flexible seating. Flexible seating is a non-traditional or alternative way of sitting. It is any furniture that is not the traditional desk and chair. It can include bean bags, yoga balls, bungee chairs, standing desks, or just sitting on rugs on the floor. With overcrowding in the schools, we have more student desks in the classroom, and less space for our flexible seating. My class loves using the lap desks that we already have to sit comfortably. However, they have trouble stacking these desks in a safe way while still having space to maneuver throughout the room. These desks take up a lot of space leaving less room in the classroom to stand on line and store student materials. Having this rack will allow me to encourage my students to use the lap desks, and ensure for it to be safely put away.
