Help me give my students flexibility in their seating with wiggle stools and a standing desk. Students who suffer from anxiety will also benefit from a sense of security through the use of lap blankets.
Our school is a Title I school, and many of the students receive free and reduced lunch. These students have needs, and I want to help meet those needs.
Students who feel cared for at school will want to continue to be at school.
This is why it is so important that I meet as many of their needs, both socially and academically. By giving them the items within my project I will be able to help them feel cared for and comfortable in the classroom and thus, help them to become successfully engaged learners.
My Project
My focus for this project is to help all students find and create a learning space that fits their learning needs. A typical classroom setting is geared toward a select few learning styles, but that might not be the best learning style for a lot of children.
Learning begins with mindfulness, which begins with knowing how we learn best.
When we can relax in our environment we can focus better on our work. Matching our environment to our learning style as best we can, helps with that. With lap blankets, students will be able to sit in the class and work more easily due to having less anxiety which is given to them through the weight of the lap blankets. The stand-up desk, wiggle stools, and chair bands will allow students who are fidgety to fidget in a way that is not distracting to others around them.
