My Students

I teach in a General Education ELL (English Language Learner) classroom. I am blessed to spend my days with dynamic 1st graders who come to me each morning with open hearts and willing spirits, ready to absorb whatever I send their way.

In my classroom, the real teachers are the students.

These sweet firsties remind me every day that life is meant to be lived with love, respect, and kindness.

As an ELL classroom, my students come from a variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and language backgrounds. Each is in a unique place developmentally, and each has specific needs I want to meet to increase their success. I strive to connect with my students, to validate them, and to respect them for exactly who they are right now.

My Project

My students need to flex their physical muscles to better flex their thinking muscles! By implementing flexible seating in my classroom, my students can exercise freedom in choosing their workspace.

Bodies in Motion = Minds in Motion!

Flexible seating allows my students to choose a workspace based on their individual physical needs...think standing desks, wiggle cushions, stability balls, yoga mats, scoop rockers, and more!

When students can choose to "wiggle while they work," they are more likely to be focused, engaged, and on task during independent work times. With flexible seating choices, creativity and collaboration during group work increase too!
