Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from various economic and cultural backgrounds who love reading, are passionate learners, fun-loving kiddos, and future leaders.
Teaching in a Title I school with close to 100% free breakfast and lunch has it's challenges.
My students love to learn! They come in every morning with big smiles on their faces and clearly love school! If you were to walk in my classroom the first thing you would see is the will and desire to learn from my students. They also love to move around the classroom and engage in fun projects and activities.
As a teacher I strive to help my students fall in love with learning while helping develop skills and strategies. This is a critical point in their lives as a student because it is when they develop their passion for learning. Help them along the way!
My Project
So many students these days need to be constantly "on the move" and struggle to sit still in a seat. We try to incorporate a lot of moving in kindergarten; however, our young students are still responsible to complete independent seat work. The flexible balls, wobble chairs, and seat cushions will allow students to quietly expend energy without bothering the students near them. The ball pump will allow me to continue to maintain the flexible balls.
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them.
These items will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They will be used as an alternative chair if needed! They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
