Flex-Space 16 Wobble Chairs: Learning on the Move!

My students need a Flex-Space 16" wobble chair bundle to improve their focus while they learn.

My Students

I teach at an urban public school district where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast, lunch and a snack. We also send home as many food bags each week as our supplies allow. Many of our students face economic hardships. Despite many of these hardships, our students are hungry to learn! One of the first things I have students do at the beginning of the year, is to set a goal for their future. What do they want to do and who do they want to become? How will you get there? What do you need to do now to reach your goal? Every student has a plan in mind. Their dreams are big and their desire is strong!

Upon much research I have found that students learn better when they are able to move.

In addition, I am a firm believer in student voice. Allowing students to have a voice in their learning and to choose what seating will best serve them and their learning. Flex-Space allows for students to find a comfortable space to learn and develop their minds.

Our school district provides 2 meals and a snack everyday to insure our kiddos get a well balanced diet and don't leave us hungry. I also want our students to feel as though their classroom is warm and a comfortable places to learn and move.

My Project

A major component of my student voice learning model is setting up a classroom environment that encompasses many different learning styles. Our classroom and all of our spaces are shared by every learner. Each space is set up for a specific type of learning a child may need to access throughout the day. Examples of these spaces are group work, presentations or demonstrations (by teachers or learners), research, reading, thinking, reflecting and discussing, and creating and innovating. Wobble chairs are designed to support students with ADHD, because they provide a physical challenge and opportunity to release energy while allowing them to simultaneously work and learn. However, modifications such as these wobble chairs often benefit all learners, especially with a shared classroom space.
