My Students

All of my students are in the special education room for 50-80% of the school day. Students come in and out of the classroom to receive direct instruction in specific areas they need assistance in. Every students has an IEP in my classroom. Students have diagnosis from Autism, Down Syndrome, Visually impaired, to emotional behavior disorder. Most of these students come from low income/poverty environments. I want to give my students the best education they can receive and I feel that by creating a classroom that's inviting for them will improve their education as well as their behaviors and emotions. These students are very deserving and work hard.

My Project

The futon will add to the flexible seating options to my special needs classroom. Their are a variety of students with disabilities in my classroom. Students have emotional and behavior disorders, autism, Specific learning disabilities, and down syndrome. Students with these types of disabilities often require a way to meet their sensory needs. Having optional seating will help increase better behavior which will in turn create more growth mindset. This futon is also more inviting to students than regular desk and seats. A leather futon will also make cleaning easier. This will cut back on germs.
