My students love to learn. Their favorite time of the day is when we all gather on the carpet for our lessons or when they get to read on the carpet. They get to discuss the topics we are learning and get to learn from their peers and share their thinking. It allows my students to take ownership for their learning. One of their favorite parts of the day is being able to complete their work comfortably on the carpet. I work at a school where my students are at an economic disadvantage and they don't have access to a lot at home so I like to make their learning environment and as comfortable as I can to motivate my students to want to learn. In order to provide them with a positive learning environment where they want to learn I want to be able to provide them flex seating opportunities in the classroom.
The students at my school are exposed to things that no 2nd grader should ever be exposed to.
So for the time my students are in my classroom, I want to provide the best learning environment I can.
My classroom is filled with students of different needs and learning styles. In order to give my students a learning environment they can reach their academic and social and emotional potential, I want to create a learning environment that targets their needs. Not all students do their best learning sitting at a desk all day. The use of the bean bag chairs will provide my learners an environment they can engage in their best learning. I have started to create a flexible seating classroom for my students and have seen the benefits. I want to continue to provide my students with an effective learning environment.
