Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a low income school in California. Students come to me with a variety of needs, both academic and social-emotional. They are always eager to learn and look forward to coming to school each and every day.
They are shining stars who brave through some pretty tough home lives in order to excel in a safe, fun, engaging learning environment.
My hope is to provide my students with a colorful, warm classroom that is not only inviting but purposeful. Our classroom is our second home. I want this home to be the best it can possibly be!
My Project
Flexible seating is a way for students to learn in a way that is comfortable for them. It is time for us to move away from traditional desks and chairs and replace them with seating options that engage students and make them want to come to the classroom to learn.
Comfy chairs, balance balls, and wiggle cushions are replacing traditional chairs in my classroom.
Students will now have options to choose from when learning in my room. By eliminating traditional chairs, my kindergarten students will be more eager to come to class and will be more engaged in their learning!
