My students are gifted learners from all backgrounds with diverse needs. They have been assessed at higher than grade level in reading or mathematics. They are voracious learners with many different learning styles. Our class strives to create a community where everyone feels welcome.
My Project
My students have many different needs and learning styles. In my classroom I want to focus on small group learning. To allow each student flexibility and responsibility I want to provide a variety of active seating options - from yoga balls to a comfy place to sit on the floor.
These different options will allow my students to select a seating option which lets them move while they learn.
That will help them to focus and retain information from different learning tasks. Yoga balls help students who learn by moving and hate sitting still. Wobble stools are an option for students who want to move while they work, but find the yoga balls distracting or uncomfortable. The rug will help my students to have a comfortable place to sit and work on the floor if they choose.
