Help me give my students flexible sit/stand desks to help reduce stress and increase learning.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. W.'s classroom raised $588

My Students
My students come from a hurricane devastated area. Due to all the needs of rebuilding, our school is diverse in types of learners who have come from all over. Living situations have also changed. These stressors play a major factor in brain development in learning and retaining information. These students are continuing to push through the negative psychological impact of Hurricane Michael, but have proven that they are survivors! These students have a love for learning and thrive in a safe, flexible learning environment.
My Project
The ability to sit or stand will help those students who need movement to learn. By allowing students choices they gain a better understanding of how they learn and become better advocates of their own learning.
Research has shown that having the ability to stand or move while learning reduces stress which allows students to make better connections and build relationships in their learning.
With reduced stress, students are also able to access all parts of their brain which in turn creates more connections with their learning. With reduced stress also comes increased engagement and decreased behavior problems. Flexible seating is a win all around for both student and teacher!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
