I have the privilege of teaching 24 wonderful and energetic third graders. They love to move and most of the time hate sitting in one spot for too long. As most teachers do, I am constantly trying to create an environment that is both engaging for students and fun to be in.
These materials will have a significant impact on my students learning. There is so much research behind flexible seating in the classroom. When you donate, you will be providing my students with wobble chairs, balance balls, and comfy stools to sit on. I would love to provide every single student with the choice to sit in a special seat.
Flexible seating will provide so many benefits for my students.
Flexible seating allows students to move. They can wobble, bounce, lean, or even stand. Allowing students to move increases oxygen flow which in turn, helps keep young minds more alert and focused. Students will also find great comfort in having flexible seating. An uncomfortable student, is a distracted and unproductive student. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. Lastly, flexible seating allows students to have choice. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed.
