Help me give my students a comfortable environment to practice their reading skills. In our classroom, I am committed to giving students an environment where they feel comfortable and safe while also being able to expand their skills.
My students are incoming third graders. These students will be attending our Title I school and come from low-income households. These students live in the immediate area surrounding our school and some may not be afforded the opportunity to read a variety of books in comfortable spaces at home. My goal is to give them a space to do this. A goal for our school and district is to increase community engagement in our schools. DonorsChoose.org is giving me an opportunity to involve the community!
In my classroom my students will be able to have choice in their learning environment. Students thrive in classrooms where they are able to have flexibility and choice, causing them to be able to take ownership of their learning. Variety and choice are vital parts of successful education. Students will use these flexible seating resources to find a comfortable space in our classroom and hone their reading and comprehension skills. These skills will be practiced throughout the day and students will share the desired flexible seating materials to promote comfort, choice, and student’s best learning. All while they prepare for the FSA Reading Test!
