As an educator teaching in the district I grew up in, I see myself reflected in my enthusiastic and loving 5th graders. Our school is 100% free and reduced lunch, and I seek to provided my students with a nurturing and fun learning environment.
My students love brain breaks, music and whole body learning.
They are silly, loving and fearless. They do are not big fans of sitting and would rather work on the floors and counters.
Many of them receive weekend snack packs, uniform assistance, and free before and after school care. Despite the difficulties they are resilient and they find safety in our classroom.
My Project
With these flexible seating options, every students will have a band on their chair. They will also have exercise ball chairs during stations, when it is difficult for them to focus. For the students who prefer to sit on the floor, the foam pads will help make it more comfortable. Some students like to sit in their chair to rock it to the point distraction. The wobble cushion will help them move in their seat with moving the chair.
Flexible seating will help my students focus while channeling their energy in a product way.
They love any chance they get to be out of their seats and moving. Currently they sit and lay on the floor while working and reading. This will also help accommodate students with Attention Deficit Disorders.
