My Students

I have a wonderful group of second graders! There are 19 students who are working hard in the new school year. Our class is made up of girls and boys from a variety of backgrounds. The students are energetic children who are eager to learn. Each unique child in this group has distinctive learning goals that we will strive together to meet this year.

My hope is to give them the best possible learning environment with a variety of tools and experiences that will contribute to their success as students socially, mentally, and academically.

My Project

For many years, I have used "Flat Stanley" in small group reading. I have an exceptional group of learners who are ready to explore and read chapter books with independence. I would like to have a class set of this particular book so that we can do a whole class book study that gives everyone the opportunity to enhance their reading skills. To develop good readers, it is important to put quality literature into the hands of each student. When doing a whole class literature circle, students need access to their own copy of a book. Sharing books for a large project can be difficult. This particular chapter book opens the door to teacher lessons about literature and connecting texts, writing lessons, and exploring geography.
