My Students
My students are smart, curious, creative, funny, hardworking, and friendly towards one another. My 18 students represent families all over the world, as well as a variety of learning levels. My school consists of over 1,000 students of diverse backgrounds. This can make teaching challenging because of the diverse learning abilities, but my students are always eager to learn. My students continually face obstacles head on and continually strive to do better. Their drive and passion for learning is amazing!
My Project
Teaching reading in first grade can be a challenge, but with Flashlight Friday I am hoping to alleviate some of those challenges. Each Friday I plan to get students excited about reading by having a time students can curl up with a book and a flashlight and read. Flashlight Friday will make independent reading time fun! Lights off, cozy spots, a good book, and a flashlight will help promote a positive reading experience and get students engaged about learning.
Each week I teach students a life skill such as kindness, compassion, problem solving, and perseverance just to name a few.
I have chosen books that will allow students to see these traits in action. I strive daily to create a positive interactive learning environment for all. Flashlight Friday will help motivate students to read while learning a lifeskill along the way.
