Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are 5th graders who have many different interests! After being virtual, my students are wanting to do hands-on activities together! Since being online, they have not had much exposure to projects or materials. They cannot wait to do more this school year! I am excited to give them more opportunities. I also work at a Title I school.

Most of my students come from poverty and cannot afford any materials.

I do the best I can to provide them with supplies, but sometimes, we do not have enough. They have motivation but need more help than I can sometimes give them with materials.

My Project

When it comes to ELA, my students' biggest weakness is vocabulary. They struggle to learn vocabulary. I work at a Title I school and I wish we had more materials to give to students to take home to study.

These flashcards will give EACH student an opportunity to grow their vocabulary skills at home.

We practice vocabulary in class, but sometimes students struggle on how to practice this at home. Flashcards are an easy way to learn more words, practice with friends and family, and have all the fun!

Some of my students are English Learners, so it would be helpful to them as well.
