This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 24 students in a low socio economic neighborhood in Philadelphia. They are 3rd grade budding scientist. Many of my students speak Spanish at home and are learning English at school.

I have an ESOL friendly classroom and what better way to expose my kids to language than through hands-on science experiments.

My students love to do group work and what better way to facilitate language learning than through cool and exciting fizzing, color changing science experiments. Please keep my little scientists engaged.

My Project

These Scientific Explorer Mind Blowing Science Kits will give my students the opportunity to become real scientists. They will be able to conduct experiments and discover the thrill of watching materials POP, FIZZ, and CHANGE COLORS.

My students love to work in groups.

I believe that one of the best ways for a student to learn is from another student. Students will be working in groups to complete the experiments and write the lab reports. They will collaborate on how to write the steps needed to complete the experiment as well as come up with different adjectives to describe what they see. For my students who are learning English this is a great way to explore and acquire academic language.
