This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Physical Education 4 - 5 times a week to fourth graders. About 30% of my students are considered overweight and need to be taught how to exercise properly to stay healthy. Most of my students are of Hispanic background and this is a Title 1 school and located in California.

Although most of my students enjoy doing physical education and fitness our school's fitness center/gym does not have all the required equipment needed to get a good workout.

My Project

This year my fourth graders are challenged to be healthier by their choice of nutrition as well as fitness. The equipment I am requesting will help them with their fitness program. It will make Physical Education class more exciting with better and new equipment. We will use the equipment daily for different activities and team sports.

Fitness and nutrition is an important part of a child's life.

What they learn in grade school continues on to their adult life. I hope to teach them the skills needed to be healthy individuals. My students are going to be very excited to have new and professional equipment to use at fitness.
