Fitness and Brain Activities Create a Healthy and Fit Mind!
My students need timers, bubbles, bubble wands, soccer cones, relaxation and guided imagery music and activities, an iPad Mini, Virtual Reality packs, bean bags, PlayStix, Straws and Connectors, and weighted balls to increase our activity levels.
I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5- to 8-year-old eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! We participate in so many fun activities throughout the year, and our hope is to add even more.
My Project
My students and I are so excited about this project request! My students have been begging for these fun activities, helped to come up with the ideas, and can't wait to use them to become more physically active and more aware of our brains' needs in regards to relaxation and mindfulness! We are requesting so many fun things to help us with our goal. We are requesting lots of bubble equipment including super sized wands and bubble solution. We will be able to have bubble parties out on our playground that will get my students up and moving like crazy! I am also requesting an iPad Mini and lots of relaxation, guided imagary, and dance music, so that my students can have mindful downtime to relax their brains during the stressful school day, and to pump up the movement with lots of dancing fun! We can also use the iPad mini to stay fit and active through music, yoga, and fitness apps and centers. Next, I am requesting timers, so that we can race on the playground and in the classroom. My students will have a great time with the bean bags, weighted balls, Playstix, Straws and Connectors, and soccer cones. The Virtual Reality packs will allow students to go on virtual field trips and explore areas that they could never visit wihout these supplies. The Play Doh is to allow for learning brain breaks that are still geared toward our academics. And, the brain model is to help me teach my students about the actual parts of the brain they are using to complete each fitness and wellness activity. They can actually hold this model in their hand, and get a close up look at out their brain works while moving. This will create so much fitness fun!
