I work in a rural school district in a town where everybody knows everybody. I grew up here and chose to come back because I liked the idea of knowing my students before I had them. My students this year are extremely sweet and lovable. Many of them know me because they were in my class a few years ago in first grade.
Each year, students steal my heart and I want to do right by them.
They truly are the best! I want them to have a great education and be able to have fun while learning.
They love to read and do math. We focus on mistakes as learning opportunities, that it is okay to not have it all right all the time. Learning, much like happiness, is not a destination, but rather a journey. I want my students to feel that way when they enter and leave my room. Each day is a part of their journey: so let's make it the absolute best day we can.
My Project
Students need to have options for seating in the classroom. My students, in years past, have struggled sitting on the boring metal chairs at school. Many times, they tip, causing them to fall over onto the floor.
Exercise balls as chairs increase student productivity.
I would like to purchase a class set of exercise balls, in various sizes to accommodate all of my students' sizes this year. Because students are constantly balancing and working their muscles, the fidget factor of seating is already in place. This helps focus more on the task at hand, learning what they need to in order to be successful.
