My Project
My students are an inspiring group of young learners who come from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are immigrants, refugees, or English language learners. They face unique challenges daily, but approach every task with enthusiasm, resilience, and a desire to grow. What I love most about them is their determination to succeed, despite the obstacles they face, and their ability to create a welcoming and supportive classroom community.
The fitness equipment we are requesting—such as weight benches, fitness ropes, and rowing machines—will make a tremendous difference in their learning by promoting physical health, teamwork, and confidence.
For many of my students, particularly those new to the country or language, physical education offers a way to connect with peers beyond words. These resources will provide opportunities for them to build social bonds while developing physical fitness and learning valuable life skills like discipline and perseverance. It also allows students who may not feel confident in traditional academic settings to excel and feel a sense of achievement.
The goal of this project is to create a safe, inclusive space where all students can participate in physical activity, regardless of language barriers or fitness levels. By introducing accessible equipment, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and accomplishment in every student, while promoting physical health and well-being.
This project will especially benefit immigrants, refugees, and English language learners by offering activities that bridge cultural and linguistic divides. Fitness is universal, and this equipment will give them a way to engage in meaningful, shared experiences with their peers, promoting both physical and emotional health. With your support, we can empower our students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
