Fisher's Flexible Seating

Help me give my students flexible seating options for their wiggly bodies and growing minds! The wobble chairs, lap desks, desk bands, stools, and bean bag chairs will allow them to productively fidget while remaining focused on academics.

My Students

I teach Elementary Special Education in a rural, high-poverty district. I love my job- every day is something new and I am constantly kept on my toes by my silly group of kiddos! My colleagues are extremely supportive and collaborative, but we struggle, just like any other public district.

I teach a class of wonderfully bright, kind, and differently-abled students.

The kindness I see in my classroom astounds me. Each student has so much to offer our community of unique learners. They are tech whizzes, art maniacs, and more creative than I could ever dream of being!

I am positive that my students would close learning gaps and achieve their full academic and social potential with access to quality educational and sensory resources.

My Project

Elementary students are squirrely on their own. When you throw ADD, ADHD, and other disabilities into the mix, the result is s student who is borderline restless. I teach Special Education and see the firsthand account of this in my classroom every day.

Additional seating options will grant my students more agency in their education, as well as help them channel their energy into productive academic work.

My students are more at ease and productive when given options that make them feel in control. These seating options would do both: make them feel in control, and allow movement without distracting themselves or others.
