Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a high poverty area. Every day I see that these are very determined and intelligent students.
As a new teacher, I am still adding to my classroom.
Something that my students have been really engaged in is a novel study. We are hoping to get a class set of the novel, "Fish in a Tree". My students enjoy the concept of reading a longer novel rather than just the short stories we have in our ELA curriculum.
My students are really strong readers and need to be challenged. By having this opportunity to read a novel, they will enhance their reading and comprehension skills.
My Project
My students love to read. They have all greatly enhanced their reading level during the first semester. I have several students reading at or well above grade level. My students loved reading the book "Wonder". It was read to the class because we only had one copy.
My students would love to have a class set of "Fish in a Tree".
This allows them to better comprehend and follow along. We will work on a novel study and do many activities with this book.
My students are really excited to begin this book. We would love to get this funded!
