Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing young people. They overcome obstacles everyday to just be able to do what most people do everyday.
My students thrive when participating in hands-on experiences, and movement.
They not only want to learn, but they want people to expect them to learn.
My students want people to look beyond the disability and see the extraordinary human beings they are, capable of great things. They come from very low income families and do not have many opportunities to be involved in the community other than what we do within the classroom.
My Project
Often times in school, the only opportunities to learn are by what we see in books and the worksheets that follow. Not only does this get tedious and boring, but my students require hands on activities to reach all their learning styles and help them be successful.
Our upcoming science lesson will be on plants, how they grow, why they are needed and which ones we eat.
We will be planting the traditional way, but I thought it would be fun and engaging to show students various ways that plants can grow.
The Water Garden Fish Tank with Root Farm Hydroponic Garden System will help show my students how the ecosystem works and that plants can grow in all kids of environments.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
