My Students

Challenging students to use their imaginations, to open their minds, and to find their own unique style is what I do every day. I teach Drawing, Design, Printmaking, Intro to Photography, Ceramics and Advanced Ceramics. The ages of my students range from 14 to 18 years old.

Igniting the creative spark in my students is my ultimate mission.

Creativity, learning to see...TRULY SEE...to use their imaginations to come up with creative solutions will carry my students far in life. Whether it be English, science, or math - all require creative ways to solve problems. I tell my students, "If you become better artists during my class, that would be great. Ultimately, what I desire most is for you to become more CREATIVE."

My Project

In ancient China fishermen would capture sea life. To record the size of their catch they would apply ink to the fish and print the fish on rice paper. This tradition became an art form known as Gyotaku.

Embark with my students and I on a journey to ancient China using Gyotaku Fish Printing Replica sets!

We will also experiment with the art form of bubble printing! Using acrylic paint, Gyotaku Fish replicas are used to print on top of bubble prints, to create artworks texture rich in color & variety; igniting the wonder in all of us!
