I absolutely love teaching first grade. The amount of growth that students make in their first grade year is unlike anything else that I've ever witnessed. There is just so much positive about this grade level that I adore.
However, they definitely struggle with keeping themselves organized.
It takes a lot of my guidance and direction to help them stay organized. Something that I've found with first grade is that the more space they have, the more space they will take. I'm hoping to move to tables (instead of desks) so that they don't have desk space to hold their mess. I would like to use their chair pouches for most of their stuff so that I can see and monitor them at all times.
