Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This is my first year teaching second grade and yes it is coming to an end and summer is just around the corner but with it being my first year I have learned that kids can go through a lot of supplies. The school supplies that they bring first day, lasts a month. The Crayola Crayons, Thermal Laminating Pouches, Pre-Sharpened #2 Pencils, Glue Sticks and other specific items I’m requesting will help provide the best learning experience for my kiddos. With this being my first year I have a good idea on what I need in my classroom for the following year to help make it run successful. My students are constantly needing these certain supplies and I’ve spent my own personal money to try and make my classroom perfect but I’m already running low.

My goal for this is to reach a community that will help these students continue to strive and not worry about shortage of supplies in a classroom.

I know I keep saying this is my first year, but with it being my first year the students I have gotten to learn and know are amazing. How I know my students are special is because my retina detached in my left eye and I had to have emergency surgery in the middle of this school year. I was out on medical leave for a month and I constantly wondered what my children were doing with the substitute and I wanted to FaceTime them and get back to them as soon as possible and let them know that everything is okay. Instead of worrying about my health I was more worried and eager to get back to them.
