Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year teacher, I’m thrilled to be creating a classroom environment where every student feels safe, supported, and excited to learn. One of my goals this year is to build a calm down corner, a peaceful space where students can regulate their emotions and reset when needed. Sensory tools like sand and clay are not only soothing, but they also help students refocus and return to learning with a clear mind.

I’m also passionate about giving students the freedom to learn in ways that feel comfortable for them.

Flexible seating options will help them stay engaged and focused, whether they’re working independently, in groups, or simply needing a quiet moment to themselves.

In our class, we use whiteboards daily, and having erasers available at each station would save time and allow for smoother transitions without the need for paper towels. Headphones are another essential tool. We regularly use Edpuzzle, CNN10, and audiobooks to support our visual and auditory learners.

Additionally, I’m excited to incorporate more hands-on learning through arts and crafts and creative play. Materials like magnet tiles and a variety of art supplies will allow students to explore, build, and express themselves in meaningful and imaginative ways.
