This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I will be a brand new teacher next school year, and I need the following items to ensure that my students have a successful school year.
The sight word games will ensure that my students have the basic foundation of reading as they mature through their elementary years.
The games will also allow me to reinforce the words that they should know. The sight word flash cards will allow for me to do the same in a faster manner. I will flash the cards to students as they enter into the classroom as well as at the beginning of the reading lesson.
The math place value manipulative will be used to reinforce place value skills during small group instruction as well as independent learning.
The pencil holder will be used for students to take a pencil when they need one. The zippered bags will be used to house supplies for student center rotations. The stamps will be used to help as I provided teacher commentary and feedback on students assignments. The handwriting items will allow for student writing practice as cursive writing is coming back into the curriculum.
The dry erase boards and markers will be used during teacher small group sessions for students to respond and during whole group instruction. The highlighters will be a part of the supplies for student centers. The floor cushions will be placed in my reading corner to provide alternate seating for students to read.
