My students need two dry erase boards, fractions and decimals games, and five copies of The Watsons Go to Birmingham.

My Students

Many of our students want to learn, but lack the basic resources that other schools are able to provide. We need an easy solution to paper and pencil type learning to help get them excited about learning and higher level thinking.

My students have hearts of gold, but many of them lack either the funding or educational support at home.

We are an urban school in located in Virginia in a gorgeous school built in the 1920s. My students are energetic and need activities to captivate their minds.

My Project

I am requesting dry erase boards for all subject areas, but primarily for math. Using them, will reduce paper and clutter, as well as provide ample opportunities for all students to attempt to solve problems at their own pace. The Watsons Go to Birmingham is a fun and exciting tale that will engage and inspire my students. 5 have been requested for partnered reading. Math is a weakness of many children and fractions are so difficult for many students. These hands on activities will help provide a visual, as well as repeated practice for my students who are a very "hands on" group.

I am a first year teacher without the resources of many schools.

I intentionally work in an urban, low-income school and provide most of my own supplies, many I have to buy for my students. I will never complain about my pay, but I can only give so much before I need to ask for help. My students and future students will benefit from these basic supplies. I love what I do and hopefully this donation will encourage my students to love learning.
