This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a first year middle school math teacher in South OKC. My students are fun and crazy! They love interactive and hands on math classes. Their formative years in math happened during COVID, and as a result they are even more behind than previous years. Many of them are also English Language Learners (ELL). The culture of our school is chaotic and is in need of structured and engaging classes.

My goal, is for my classroom to be an inviting space where students can take charge of their education.

Paper, pencils, expo markers, and headphones, will assist in learning day to day. Colored pencils, glue, and crayons become tools to empower creativity. Paint markers, number stickers, bins and baskets, will provide organization and structure. Light covers, pop toys, and stickers make the classroom into an inviting, supportive, and motivating space.
