This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first year teacher, it has been a huge learning curve to learn what my students need and what they want to succeed in class. The teacher who had my classroom previously left behind enough to get by, but as the year continues, I continue to see what my students are lacking to be successful.
These materials will help my students with the organization of the class and have the necessary materials to complete projects.
My biggest highlights are: getting bins to organize extra copies for students who are absent; supplying students with fidget toys to stay focused during class; and coloring supplies with tape and parchment paper to create their own stickers and decorate the classroom.
I want the class to feel welcoming and have the students play a part in the decorations. By giving them an outlet to draw and then post their stickers in the room, I am excited to see their buy-in to SEL activities and taking ownership of the room they learn in!
