Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year teacher who came in mid-year to fill in a spot for a previous educator, I found myself lacking materials for an effective classroom environment.

Effective tools and strategies are needed to build a successful classroom culture.

Flexible seating can give students the option to sit anywhere in the room to be successful. Students with ADHD can use flexible seating to move around the classroom and find peace to do work when needed.

As a first-year teacher, I noticed a lack of leveled readers in the classroom for students to choose from and use during independent reading times. These leveled readers will help students develop a sense of independence when choosing their books to read for the week.

Classroom carts allow students to successfully store and organize their everyday materials. Students will grow independent when storing their subject notebooks, folders, and other materials. This teaches the students how to successfully store items, how to treat materials correctly, and how to stay organized.

Dry-erase markers are used daily in the classroom multiple times throughout instruction by students and teachers. Students use the markers as a tool during independent work times, on the carpet to think, pair, and share, and when they play four corners while they review topics. Teachers use dry-erase markers to instruct students throughout the day, write objectives, and provide written options for diverse learners.

By funding a first-year teacher's classroom, you are not just sending them materials to use; you are helping the teacher blossom their classroom into a successful environment so students can grow to the best of their abilities.
