Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in the 9th grade and full of determination, and gumption. They are always ready to learn and are very active in class. I am currently a first-year English teacher on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. My students are in basic art supplies-- markers and colored pencils-- so they can creatively express themselves as we delve into the complex world of English, and examine Literature. I'm requesting a larger quantity of markers and colored pencils for roughly 50 students. My students are also in need of pencils as we complete a lot of creative writing prompts, and many do not have access to regular stationary supplies. My students are also encouraged to keep a journal and are allowed to leave it in the classroom, so I need large storage containers to help keep their journals confidential and safe in my classroom. My goal is to motivate students to achieve their fullest potential inside and outside the classroom.
