First Year Classroom - Flexible Seating and Calm Corner
Help me give my students flexible seating options and supplies for a "calm corner" to support social-emotional learning (SEL). These items provide seating options to help students who may struggle with sensory issues while supporting SEL goals.

My Project
These items will help enhance my student areas within my classroom. Flexible seating options (such as bean bags, rugs, and bouncy balls) are effective tools to help children stay on task while getting their wiggles out. Additionally, I am implementing a "calm corner" to help support social-emotional learning (SEL) goals. The calm corner will be an area where children are safe to be until their emotions calm down and they are ready to talk. The flexible seating and fidget toys will provide a safe area for the student to calm down and practice their zones of self-regulation. As a first-year teacher at a Title One school, these students often struggle with self-regulation. By providing a calm corner and flexible seating options, I think students will see great improvements in SEL and other areas of their academics.
