My Students

I haven’t met my students yet, but this is my first year teaching and I am SO excited for my first class! Students at a fifth grade level are sassy yet still love the teacher and want a hug at the end of the day. I can’t wait to try out so many different projects with them this year.

I will be working in a middle to high poverty school where the students’ families may not be able to afford all of the necessary back-to-school supplies.

Since I'm a new teacher, I don’t have a build up of supplies to aid those students, and having items donated will greatly reduce the amount of stress.

My Project

This will be my first year teaching, and I’ll be coming into a classroom with very little supplies and resources. I want my students to feel at home when they walk into my classroom, and I believe that these materials will help aid in my classroom organization that will allow my students to flourish everyday. In fifth grade, fractions are a majority of the math they will be learning. Using the fraction tiles will help students combine Smartboard to physical, hands-on learning. The large table will be used in many ways. Students will use it for reading and math centers, a place to work on art projects, and teacher/student discussion over books they’re currently reading.

The whiteboards and reusable pockets will be useful in vocabulary lessons.

These items are just the base of what I’d like to include in my classroom. I love engagement and hands-on projects, and the use of manipulative plays an active role in my students’ learning. With the help of these items, my students will be physically and actively engaged.
