Every item in the cart was picked with intention. The white boards and markers are all meant to give the students a more varied interactive experience in the class. They can be used for informal assessments, class participation, and games. The post it's can be used to present student work, do informal comprehension checks, help the student's executive functioning skills through aiding their planning processes for writing, etc... The construction paper will be used for class decoration projects as well as posting student work. The cool color printing paper will be used to print resource materials that the students can keep in their binders for the school year.
The lights are to create a more welcoming atmosphere and lighting during independent reading times.
The large post-it pads will be used to make anchor charts, post student collaborative work for gallery walks, and for brainstorming. The magnets will be used to post work and models. The markers will all be used infinitely. The organizers will be used to make an efficient and intuitive work space and the colorful clear pockets will be used for games, quizzes, team work and directions.
My students deserve the best. I haven't met them, yet, but I know that they want to learn and that they deserve an environment that shows them that they're cared for. They come from different backgrounds and have their own unique aspirations. Our job is to help them get at least a step closer to where, and who, they want to be.
