First Work Then Play - Building Language

My Project

Like many educators, I have noticed an increase in the severity of communication disorders that we see in the population served by our school. There are many preschool age children that we service who need access to toys in order to build language. Play is essential for preschool age children and even older elementary students can benefit. I chose marble run and engineering coaster as these activities lend themselves to requesting and asking for help. Pretend play is an essential aspect of building language as it teaches symbolism. I chose Play-doh sets to support pretend play using familiar scenes like a kitchen or construction. I've also included wobble stools to support the attention of older students as they do more structured tasks (like sentence building puzzles). Thank you!
