Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are committed in providing a safe, creative and empowering learning environment that allows each and every student to achieve academic success and develop exemplary character.
We are designated as a Title I campus based on the number of low-income students who are considered at-risk for school achievement.
There is no access to private lessons for instrument players. We have instruments only for 25 students and are trying to get more for the rest of the program. We do not have violas.
My Project
We have never had violas in our string orchestra. Last semester, I decided to use full-size violins as violas. That is the only way we found to add this instrument to the string orchestra.
We need to get real violas instead violins in order to provide the students with a full string orchestra sound experience.
The students need to understand that The viola is one of the 'harmonic building blocks' of the orchestra/string section. They provide the bridge between D-Bass and Celli and the violins and are used to fill in the harmony. Our String orchestra deserves to have real violas.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
